National Training Plan

On behalf of the Ministry of Health, the Skills Matter team in consultation with the national workforce centres, has written a high-level National Training Plan.

The plan is informed by national policy and takes stock of current, available training. It also identifies the gaps that exist in order to support future service delivery. It is a foundation document that will continue to develop alongside this website.

The next five years will see a major shift as more comprehensive and integrated services are developed that span primary, secondary and tertiary care. Workforce development will be led by Te Pou - The National Centre of Mental Health Research, Information and Workforce Development; regional workforce development coordinators; and the four national mental health workforce centres - Te Rau Matatini, Matua Raki, the Werry Centre and Le Va (Pasifika workforce development within Te Pou).

This plan is currently being updated. A new version will be released in 2010.
