Postgraduate certificate

A postgraduate certificate involves earning credits from a specified subject and, where appropriate, its related areas. It serves as a qualification recognising continuing professional development in the same area as the candidate's original degree.

A candidate will normally have completed all requirements of a bachelor degree or, in special circumstances, a bachelor degree with honours, and possess the relevant skills and knowledge acquired through appropriate work or professional experience. The postgraduate certificate is designed to extend and deepen a candidate's knowledge and skills through formal instruction and directed inquiry.

A graduate with a postgraduate certificate qualification is able to:

  • acquire and assess knowledge, analyse and solve problems, work and study independently
  • demonstrate intellectual independence, analytic application and sound communication.

The postgraduate certificate requires a minimum of 60 credits at level 8. A postgraduate certificate provides the basis for further postgraduate study.
